DTC home brand comes to Nordstrom pop-up

Advansa is upping the ante in recycled poly fill with the introduction of Haven, a washable down alternative whose fine polyester fibers are engineered into a powdery fluff.

Certified to the Global Recycled Standard (GRS), Suprelle Haven mimics the features of down, particularly the adaptability or squishiness of the fiber and the support.

“It’s not as dense as regular down alt. It’s more like snow,” said Emily Mayer, who leads marketing and sales for Advansa’s Suprelle USA business.

She added: “It washes well, and it’s sustainably produced. You get more bang for your buck in terms of ounce weight.”

Haven fibers are designed for use in higher-quality products, a trend being led by major consumer brands, Mayer noted.

“Originally, recycled fibers were used more in lower price-point product. Now you see Chanel and Adidas and others using recycled elements,” she said.

The fiber technology company is also offering Haven as part of its Suprelle Blue line, which produces polyester fiber from recycled ocean plastic. The raw materials are sourced in partnership with Plastic Bank. The for-profit social enterprise, which is based in Vancouver, British Columbia, builds recycling ecosystems in under-developed communities, paying locals for the plastic waste they collection.

Expanding on Suprelle Blue, Advansa announced the filament can now be spun into fabric. Sleep products made with the fiber fill and encased in the fabric can offer a 100% recycled ocean plastic claim on the poly.

“There’s a feel-good to that message,” said Mayer. “It’s good for you, good for the ocean and good for coastal communities.”

The filament can be blended with can variety of cotton or woven as a 100% poly microfiber.
